Edit an event
Only the school or teacher that owns an event can edit it through the member interface. A staff account may have additional permissions.
New staging website
Section titled “New staging website”Sign in at Login, open the event, and choose the owner action Edit event. The direct path is /school/edit-event/{eventId}; replace {eventId} with the event’s numeric ID. From Manage your events, choose Edit event in the event row.
The editor heading is Edit event. It uses the same four steps as creation:
Basic informationStudent programsMediaFacilities
Use Previous step and Next step to move through the form. Update the fields described in Create an event. Select Save event; while the request runs the button reads Saving....
Saving the main event and extra sections
Section titled “Saving the main event and extra sections”The main event details are saved with Save event. The edit screen also exposes individual controls for sections that can be changed independently. The page explains: Changes to these details are saved with their individual controls. Depending on the data present, use the visible controls such as:
Save image detailsSet primarySave facilitiesSave training optionsSave instructorAdd registered instructorAdd custom instructor
After saving, the screen may show Event details saved. Save any changed sections separately. Check each changed section before leaving the page.
Expired-event renewal
Section titled “Expired-event renewal”When an owned event has passed its end date, the current editor can show This event has {days} days left in its free renewal window. During that window:
- Change both
Start dateandEnd date. - Keep the end date on or after the start date.
- Save the event.
For a non-staff renewal, both dates are required. After saving changed dates, the event becomes inactive and requires administrator approval again. After the renewal window closes, WYA will not accept the renewal.
If the dates are invalid, the form can show Renewal requires both a start date and an end date., The end date must be on or after the start date., or End time must be after start time when the dates are the same.
Result and failures
Section titled “Result and failures”After a successful edit, confirm the event detail page reflects the changed dates, description, format, contact details, and related sections. A Publish status still follows administrator approval.
If a save is uncertain, do not click the create route or submit a second event. Return to Manage your events, open the same row, and inspect the saved values. If you cannot manage the event, the signed-in account does not own its school or teacher profile, or the session has expired.
Production website
Section titled “Production website”Sign in at Login, then open Edit Event. The legacy heading is Edit Event. The four steps are exactly:
Basic InformationProgramsMedia & ContentFacilities
Use the fields and labels shown by the live production editor. Use Previous and Next, then select Save. The button reads Saving... while the update runs. A successful update shows Successfully saved data; a related-section failure shows Event updated but some details failed to save; a general failure shows Unsuccessfully saved data.
The production page uses the same owner edit path for a school or teacher-owned event. If the account is not the owner, use the account that owns the profile or ask an authorized WYA administrator; seeing a public event does not grant edit permission.
